The Oil gauge in this unit has been converted to work with a stand-alone oil sensor.
The Volt meter is untouched and continues to work as per OEM spec.
The oil gauge now requires a 5v transducer type sender.

When installing the OEM Binnacle harness, all required wires to tap into can be found in the existing loom that powers the climate control module located directly under the install location for the binnacle gauges. Holden were good at sticking to colour coded wires. So all you should have to do is tap into the same colour as listed above for wires 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8. In saying that. It is always good practice to double check wires prior to use.

Running the new Oil Sender Harness.
The harness supplied for the new oil sender has 3 terminals already crimped onto the three wires. Extra care should be taken to avoid damaging the pins when feeding the harness through the firewall. A good tip is to place the three pins inside a pen cap and tape the cap in pace to aide in feeding the harness through the firewall.
Adding the extra pins to the plug
Take note that the white plastic pin retainer clip needs to first be pried upward to create a gap on the bottom side as shown the first two pictures. Once the retainer clip is in this position, it can be pried out of the plug body as shown below.
If you have purchased the Binnacle Harness from Mad Folk, this plastic retainer clip will be left out so you can skip this first step. Once the retainer clip has been removed, the three extra pins can be inserted through the available holes in the retainer clip.
Take note of the diagram above to place the pins in the correct locations. Failure to place the pins in the correct locations may cause damage to the oil sender. Once inserted, the plug can be re assembled in reverse order.

Installing the Oil Sender
The supplied oil sender must be fitted to the engine.
Generally, when installing any aftermarket set of gauges into a commodore there is an additional oil sender added using a “T” piece adapter or a sandwich plate for the oil filter available at auto barn or super cheap auto. There are no special requirements here you simply need the to ask for an adapter to add an additional oil sender to your specific engine. The original oil sender for the engine is to remain untouched.
Once installed and working, please give me a call or text just to let me know that everything is working well. I’d love to hear your feedback and how you went installing the kit.
