Traditional points ignition systems rely on contact points to switch the coil’s primary circuit, a setup prone to wear and unexpected failures. Transitioning to electronic ignition resolves these issues, offering a more reliable solution for your Holden Six. This RAE distributor uses an inductive pickup to generate signals for the ignition module, which then switches the coil. With the ignition module mounted directly on the distributor housing.

Key Features

Effortless Installation: This RAE distributor is designed for all Holden Six Cylinder Red Motors and can be installed with minimal additional wiring. Simply connect the supplied Goss electronic ignition coil and ensure a full 12 volts to the coil’s positive terminal.

Female Tower Distributor Cap: Unlike many other distributors with male caps, this unit uses a female tower distributor cap. This allows you to retain your existing ignition leads, saving you money and hassle.

Goss 12 Volt Electronic Ignition Coil: The high-quality Goss ignition coil, known for its reliability since 1943, delivers a higher intensity spark. Its barrel design fits perfectly with the factory mounting bracket, maintaining an original factory look.

Bosch BIM024 Ignition Module: The Bosch BIM024 is far more than a standard ignition module. Acting like a mini computer processor, it not only switches the ignition coil’s primary current but also features closed-loop control of dwell. It continuously adjusts the dwell based on RPM, voltage, temperature, and coil resistance, ensuring optimal performance at high RPMs and preventing coil overheating when the engine is off. This advanced module is a staple in OEM systems for GM-Holden, Ford, Toyota, and Mitsubishi.

We also offer an optional patch lead you can add to the back of your standard ignition switch to ensure you get a full 12 volts at the coil. Why? Old Holdens used a resistive wire from the ignition switch to the coil, which dropped the voltage at the coil to around 9 volts. Fortunately, Holden also ran an additional wire to the coil that supplied a full 12 volts during cranking only. By bridging this wire at the back of the ignition switch, you can ensure you get 12 volts at the coil.

On top of that we also supply full wiring instructions along side some tips and tricks to ensure a sucessfull convertion. The distributor wires have also been cut down and re-terminated at the perfect length between the distributor and coil for your Holden 6..
